I have to say my neighbors are not selfish! There may be certain things that are hard to understand sometimes in their culture, but one thing I admire about the Kurds is that they are always willing to help. They are not rich, they are not successful in the world's eyes, yet they always have another spot in their home, they always have a full plate to give and a cup of tea to share. All we had to do was say the word and the donations came pouring in for the Turkish-Kurdish refugees.
Here is the camp...they now have electricity, but no running water. Each family has a little trailer...just one room to sleep in. The cement building on the right is their "kitchen".
We unloaded the stuff. What was really special is that they didn't all dive for it as sometimes these things can be. They all just stood around and some were a little embarrassed. But they were all thankful.
One family is still living in this tent.
My amazing, fearless, beautiful friend Dawn shared so beautifully with the women, since she can speak Turkish! Look how the women are locked into her story. I love being around Dawn! She is an inspiration!
The families are all related, so they slowly started dividing everything up equally.
The kids made paper airplanes for their little ones. So fun to see them so excited about a piece of paper! The story has only just begun for them. Our prayer is that they felt the physical, tangible love of God and will want to know more. We were able to pray for a few people and are hoping they felt his touch.
