donkeys are in abundance around here and they roam wild. so random. but the people here mistreat them terribly. they think they are really dirty animals. but our kids LOVE them. they think they are cute. we have tried many times to get close to pet one, but they always run away. the kids did their best the other day when these two guys came up our hill...but this is as close as they got!
see...they want nothing to do with people. most people throw rocks at them or beat them with sticks. so sad.
these two little guys appeared recently...
so we had a dove come set up the most measly little nest recently and promptly lay two eggs. so we got on the internet and figured out what kind of dove she is and how long it would take for the eggs to hatch and what she ate, etc. we were so excited and counted down the two weeks until the birth of the babies...unfortunately she abandoned her nest too early and her babies never hatched. they have sat alone for a week and we keep hoping something will happen, but alas...i think not. one egg rolled off the other day and there was a perfectly formed baby in it. not sure what happened. seems to me any egg would cook out in the heat here...not sure. but we were all ready to experience science first hand...instead we could try a dissection i guess. just kidding!
