We are using this verse to guide our family this year. We decided to use each area outlined by Jesus in that verse to evaluate ourselves. How are we doing? What are we doing well? What do we need to improve on? Tim and I spent some time doing this together and talking about each child. Then we had a date night with each one individually and had them evaluate themselves. It was so fun to hear the things they love about themselves and even the how they perceive they need to improve. It was such a precious time together as a family. We tried to keep it really simple and emphasize all the good things. We chose one weaker area to focus on for the year and wrote them all down. We posted them to remind us. At the end of the time Annie said, "My favorite part was sitting in your lap, Mommy." Jesse said, "We need to do this every year." We even let the kids evaluate us....we found the Mommy teacher is a little grumpy sometimes...so I have my work cut out for me there!
