I have this vague memory of "family vacation" meaning cramming 5 people into a HUGE chrysler with no A/C and driving a million miles in it, while sticking to the burning hot vinyl seats, then having to sit in people's homes while my parents told them all about the good work we were doing. Well...a new age has dawned and now family vacation means going to the places Paul, the Apostle went to! We even sprang for the horse drawn cart tour. These kids do not appreciate it enough though...I think I will get a Chrysler and help them out.
Timothy Paul imitating Paul the Apostle
They loved Ephesus...history really came alive to them today. They were examining all the ruins, the details on the carvings, etc. Since we are memorizing Colossians, they kept saying, "wow....Paul was really here."
the main street, looking down to the library
trying to re-live his glory days and read Greek
when studying history...one must study all aspects...including the latrine! This is their favorite site...of course! We can't get away from the potty talk!
I loved the cross reliefs...
I personally don't like pictures without people in them...so sorry if my people block the view...i think they enhance it.
the amphitheatre
another fun thing to do is to pretend you are one of the sculptures...there are endless poses one can invent.
We enjoyed reading Ephesians 6 today about putting on the whole armor of God and imagining where people were when they first heard these words...maybe here??
After Ephesus, we headed to Kusadasi...we don't go for the local places, we look for the American places we can't usually eat at...DOMINO'S!
what day is complete without a little ice cream....??
i don't know what this is...i just liked it.
