We became tourists for a day. Most of the time we spent playing at The Haven, but we had a few really fun outings too. We went to some Roman ruins...
We got there right before the care taker's lunch break, so we had 10 minutes to see everything.
I don't know what this means...but it looked cool.
After a little picnic lunch (with HAM sandwiches...mmmm...we ate some serious pork products while we were there. It was awesome. ) we headed to the site of some ancient dinosaur tracks. I don't really understand how it all works. I know there were dinosaurs...but the millions of years ago thing is so crazy. But whatever...dinosaurs left behind some impressive footprints at this site. We had an awesome hike. One of our favorite parts about Portugal were the huge wind combines. They were beautiful to us. A symbol of harnessing nature's power in a clean and efficient way. If only Iraq could catch on to this.
We hiked the rim of this sedimentary rock. The footprints are here.
We got to go down onto the rock to see the prints up close. They are Sauropod tracks. A big old dinosaur, probably 30 meters long.
COOL.
What can I say....we are home schoolers and proud of it!
We were practicing the sound they may have made. I think we were close.
Real wild life!
Not really a great picture...but it's a giant dinosaur...i have to include it.
They begged me for this picture.
There was still more fun to be had on this day, so we headed to a cave...apparently also a petting zoo.
These old windmills were all over the place too. I had to include a picture of one.
This cave was huge and commercialized...about our speed these days.
cool stalagtites
It was like being in a whole different world. We went down 300 meters below the earth's surface. A little spooky, glad they don't have power outages like Iraq does.
