The Big Tree

This is a painting done by my amazing friend Wendy...it's called "Annie and the Big Tree." I love it! it will be a treasure forever and ever! We have to make many more memories at the Big Tree from now on! Although I do think he needs a more endearing name...
So today we packed a little lunch and headed for the Big Tree (Ed?).
Here's a close up of those goobers...they are so much fun...even when they get their kites tangled up and drop their sandwiches on the ground and fall and get blood on their pants and stick their finger in pond scum...i could go on, but that is the general idea of picnics for us. Mostly crazy, but it works for us and even after we have all yelled at each other at least once, we come home saying, "that was so fun!"
Here's the maiden voyage of the kites...it was seriously windy out today! so there was no trouble keeping the kites up.
they went so high up they could hardly be seen.
but kites only entertain for so long, so we went exploring next. climbing over the rocks, being careful not to walk IN the farmer's fields...and we discovered that tadpoles have hatched since we were here last! they were great fun to try to touch...well i wouldn't know but based on the kids squeals of delight...seemed fun. i think i only said 5 times not to fall in in the water.
I am in awe of your beauty Creator God!
I am so thankful for places to explore and let my kids discover!
the red poppies are out in the bushels and we stuffed our pockets full to bring home to press!

One last shot of the Big Tree (Frank?)
