We have had such a great year! We have now been here, just over a year! We love it! We never really went through a culture shock and we transitioned pretty smoothly! Our marriage has just gone through the best year yet! We hit 10 years in July! We decided that one of the reasons that this year has been so great for us, is that we love adventure! We love doing new things together and we love having fun! We like to live out-loud! You know this only too well, if you have ever been around us, we yell, laugh, wrestle, race, and have a lot of fun together! The downside to this is that we also are passionate when we are angry. At first I would be real down on myself for being this way, but lately I am realizing that it's not the anger part or the passionate part that's bad, it's just what I do with that. If I am not controlling it or using it to build others up, well then it's just plain wrong. But I wouldn't want to give up all the other fun and loudness of us. Instead of trying to change that about us, I just need to learn how to channel it effectively and righteously! Anyway...we went on yet another exploring trip for Mother's Day!

After winding down through some weeds and rocks, we found this great little place to sit by the river!

We splashed around in the "kani" or spring that was feeding to the river...it was freezing, but the river itself was nice! We then began a very treacherous hike up the river to get to the waterfall to swim in a big pool there. Annie is still wearing her cast and had to bag it. We all decided to wear flip-flops and crocs on this adventure. Not sure what we were thinking! Annie fell in the water once, soaking herself, but the cast was mostly dry! Then Toby lost a shoe and I had to plunge down river to catch it! We met several frogs, leaped across rocks, and crossed through the water! My allergies went CRAZY and I had to blow my nose a million times...i will spare you the details, but it was not a pretty sight!

We finally made it to the waterfall...Annie was quite sad she couldn't get all the way in!

But she had a good attitude about the whole thing!

The waterfall was pretty powerful and we tried several times to swim up under it, but couldn't get to it! It was very refreshing!

Annie did such a great job keeping her cast dry! We can't wait to be done with that thing! What a pain!

Toby loved every minute and was out in the water and braved all the nibbling fish!

Jesse got in for about 1 minute and then spent the rest of his time bundled up in this towel, he was very afraid of the fish! It was pretty funny! I did not get a picture of the piles and piles of trash on the side of the water. It was so disgusting, but the water seemed pretty clean to us...who knows though...we then had to climb straight up out the gorge (is that the right word?) at any rate...by straight up, i mean almost 90 degree angle. we were hand over hand crawling up out. annie even made the trek with one hand! She made it to the top and started laughing hysterically and we were praising her for climbing so well, all of a sudden she burst into tears...she said she had been so scared. She cried for 5 minutes while we comforted her! Poor girl! She was quite proud of herself in the end though!

We made it to the car and I was a wreck, couldn't breathe, my nose was going crazy, eyes watering and then Tim looks at me and says, "what is wrong with your neck?" I looked in the mirror and sure enough, my neck was covered in red spots. At first I was really worried it was the water and that the trash in it had contaminated us all, so i ripped my kids' clothes off and examined them! But they were no worse for the wear! It was just me, after I cooled off and got the allergies a little more under control, the spots went away. Thankfully...what an adventure!
