Kurdish Wedding!

another neighbor got married this past weekend. We spent the entire morning getting ready for it. The whole street was a flurry of excitement. We had people in and out of our home all day asking to borrow earrings, have their hair done, looking at clothes, etc. But we finally made it to the wedding! The music, to say the least, was LOUD! I mean blow your brains out loud!
the entrance of the bride. she spent all day at the salon being covered by white make up! then dresses up and comes to this big room to sit on a big green oversized chair while people dance all around.
the couple being doused with confetti
annie smooshed in a line dance!
my favorite picture of the day was these two old women talking and laughing...I wish I knew what they were discussing.
If you want to call me to help you decorate for your wedding...I know how to set up something fabulous like the backdrop to this picture if you want! I'm trying not to look too happy! But they smile all the time...just not for pictures.
Tim and his friend Eub, the brother of the groom...good times! Don't they look like they are having a total blast! Actually by this time, Tim can't wait to get out of here. He was forced to wear a button up shirt...gasp...but he refused to tuck it in. sigh. try as I might...I cannot get him to appreciate fashion. The whole day ended up being another lesson in culture. We imagined we would only spend the time at the wedding immersed in the culture, not knowing it was going to be in and out of our house! We were quite tired. But it was a good tired!
This final picture is for Paul and Erin and anyone who has ever lived here. This is at the top of the mountain and this is now the entrance into the resort there. It's a frightening face and if you look really closely you will see a gold tooth! I kid you not! It is seriously the tackiest thing EVER!!! Not to mention horribly terrifying!

  1. Wow. That's all I have to say! A gold tooth? really?! I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. Who wants to send their kids their to play? They'll have nightmares!
