An Overnight in the Big City

So we came home from the wedding and crashed in our less than nice bungalow! It smelled pretty atrocious...so much so that annie said, "i had to sleep with my mouth open so i wouldn't smell the B.O. smell!" The carpet was rough looking, there were no towels and everything was falling apart. But we slept with power, which we haven't had in months. So that was great!
Just an example of the dilapidation of the place. We do not recommend the Chinar Tourist Compound! Although i think the word "compound" in the name of the place should have been a tip off to us. Oh well...you live you learn! We also got a hot shower which we hadn't had in...we won't mention how many days...we dried ourselves off with the pillow cases and our jammies.
But we weren't to be daunted by our hotel...we were there to have FUN! We ran through the rain to our car and headed out to a cafe....before we could make it our car started over heating! Uh-oh! But we smoked into the cafe just in time...for a 4 hour wait!
We ordered a delicious but very over-priced breakfast!
croissants and blueberry muffins...only one thing better!
...a coffee
she got the last sip...i am so generous!
now onto the waiting...good thing we brought the electronics to soothe the blues!
aren't we cute?
the repair men came to us to help fix the car...they discovered a leak in the coolant system. For $8 and a few more hours of waiting we were back on the road in search of FUN!
Annie staring out at her Daddy working on the car in the cold rain!
Toby doodling on the windows of the cafe...i figured they would rather have that than running crazy around their cafe.
For lunch we moved next door to the pizza place. Some Army friends joined us! Jesse and Captain Murphy...also delivers packages to us! We are so thankful for our new friendship!
soft serve ice cream at another restaurant while we waited for Tim at the car place.
we found some fun play stuff there
and i practiced taking pictures
much to their chagrin...they endured the photo shoots
especially while they were on time out for being too loud and crazy...see Toby crying in the background...and I believe Jesse is saying something to the effect of..."I never get to play."
Annie composing an apology note to Tim.
Finally we went to the new Family Mall...rode the elevator...quite exciting!
jumped on a trampoline
took pictures
and tried on boxing gloves. All in all, it was a crazy day, but we ended up having fun even with all the unexpected things. You gotta roll with the punches!

  1. Looks like you made some memorable lemonade, even with the lemons you encountered.
