Applesauce!

We can get apples all year, but only in October and November does it sound fun to make applesauce. This year the kids decided they wanted to make it on their own. So the first go, I helped a little and this time...they did it all on their own. Scary...I know to see Jesse with that knife. Guess he can still use a few tips.
Fortunately the knives here are very dull.
Cute little apple peeler.

So that is it on the pictures. No pics of the final product. No pics of us enjoying the applesauce. That is because I am still learning to let my kids do things and not control everything. Lest, you be deceived by these pictures and post on how we love fall and everything is perfect. I did not manage to get any pictures of the sugar spilling, then the sugar trying to get cleaned up, and subsequently getting tracked ALL over the floor. If you know me, you know I love my clean floor. I hate stuff sticking to my feet. I sweep two or three times a day to avoid this. It's really quite easy...some might say obsessive, but I say easy and happy. I also did not manage to take pics of me swooping in and kicking everyone out so I could clean up. There may have been some yelling. Fortunately, after I got control of the situation and the sugar was cleaned up...which really was only a matter of 3 minutes....why must I yell about 3 minutes of inconvenience. I apologized to my 3 sad children, who only minutes before were so proud of their achievement. Unfortunately the clean and sometimes mean momma swooped in. So I kicked her out and got my little kitchen helpers and hugged and kissed them. I asked their forgiveness and repented for not letting them make a mess and clean it up. We all went back in and finished the applesauce. It was so good! They were so proud! Have I kicked out the clean, mean momma for good? No...because I really like the clean part...just gotta figure out a happy balance so the mean part stays away.
