Our kids are over joyed right now because a stray puppy wandered into our neighborhood recently. The kids now call him "Captain Puppy Britches"...a bit long and cumbersome in my opinion, but whatever. He's a stray and rather sad and mangy, but really pretty cute.
he was very thirsty when we first met him and much to our neighbor's horror, we fed him! We were careful not to touch him because we don't know what kind of diseases he could be carrying and there is no vet here to take him to.

Unfortunately our neighbors are not as excited as we are. They believe that dogs are not created by God, that in fact he dislikes them and that they are dirty animals. So sadly, the neighbors all mistreat "our dog" and drag him around and tie him up and throw rocks at him. It's very sad here. They also think we are very strange to care for him and they are all watching us expecting us to fall down dead from some horrible disease at any minute because we have touched him. But we haven't! So maybe, just maybe this will be a small crack in the darkness that shrouds them! But poor Captain Puppy Britches must bear his lot just like every other dog here...where are the animal rights activists when you need them??
