Spontaneous=Scrap the Schedule!

I love the word spontaneous...but more me that usually involves planning something "spontaneous"...I haven't quite mastered the art of scrapping the schedule because the schedule is my life...it's my JOY! But...occasionally like when there is no power, we are out of water and it's REALLY hot...how can you be forced to stay inside and have school? We tried that yesterday and I was really grumpy and had to apologize to everyone yesterday at least once! So today we ordered water, which means a tractor lumbers up our hill and pumps water into our tank and with the leftover we soak the yard and fill the pool! Forget school...even though power did come back on...the kids splashed and played all morning in their pool!
notice the holes patched up with duck tape...how they can jump onto concrete...ouch.
Toby lands on his feet
but Jesse does a FULL on canon ball! what a kid!
There's always time for a little bootie shake at the camera...Annie will be so mortified by this picture some day...but that's my spunky girl!
After all the fun...we still did finish off school in the afternoon and Annie and Toby ended up writing these two fun stories:

Brain Switcheroo

By Annie Meldrum

~A Fairy Tale~

Once upon a time, there was a little park. This park was for old people. This park was a magic park. Brains could switch places. The park’s magic only worked on people who were old and related to each other. There were two old people walking past each other and they didn’t even remember they were relatives. They didn’t even know the park was MAGIC!

There was a couple and they were walking with their pet snake. Their names were Mr. Tim and Mrs. Kristi; their snake’s name was Scaly. The other lady’s name was Mrs. Jessica; she had a pet bird named Feathers.

When they walked past each other Mr. Tim and Mrs. Jessica switched brains! Mrs. Jessica was now in Mr. Tim’s body. Mr. Tim was now in Mrs. Jessica’s body! They didn’t know they had switched places right away. But Mrs. Kristi did! She saw that Mr. Tim was walking differently!

“You are walking different. What happened to you?” she said.

“I don’t think I’m walking different.” he said.

Then they began to fight. “Oh yes you are!” she said.

“Oh no, I’m not!” he said.

Mrs. Jessica never knew she was different. As they walked through the park again they passed each other again and switched back to normal.

Mrs. Kristi said, “You are normal again Tim!”

He said, “Of course I am!”

She said, “You weren’t last time we walked here.”

They got into a big fight again.

T-REX

By Toby

Long ago there was a T-Rex that was as brown as the mountains and his skin was scaly like a snake. He had six-inch teeth. He was as furious as a lion. His claws were two inches long! His face was as giant as our house and his jaws were as colossal as a backhoe excavator so he could eat meat! He smelled like muddy dirty. He would roar and it was as loud as the Night Fury. Never go next to him or he will stomp on you! If you touch him, he feels scaly and as hot as the sun.

  1. Why is Annie writing about Mr. Tim & Ms. Kristi fighting a lot? Is it because Ms. Kristi is so fat? Maybe he is just mad because she let herself go.
