I'm a Model...

So I am in the middle of home school yesterday and we are trying to hit the books hard this week because of Eid, The Feast of Sacrifice, going on here this week. So we tried to cram ahead of time. But water came and the gate got left open after I washed the housha out and then I got no less than 4 interruptions in 10 minutes. The last one was this neighbor...Narmeen...she came to ask me to take pictures of her. I told her I would later. So 5 minutes later she comes back. Apparently we had some miscommunication. She had a bag full of clothes and then she told me to get dressed in them...i was so dumbfounded, that the next thing I knew I was getting white make up smeared all over my face and getting stripped down by all the neighbors. It was like they had planned it or something. Totally bizarre! But seriously all education halted and every neighbor across the street was in my house...children running wild, books flung to the wind and me staring at a VERY horrifying face in the mirror. Seriously...it will scare you!
yes and here are the clothes that Narmeen told me were irresistible and that I simply must put on. I never figured out what the pictures were for. I am sure I will end up in some obscure magazine somewhere, or even worse in random family albums. great...
here I am being primped for the photo shoot! Yes...you may laugh out loud! I am! and yes that is a white line across my forehead! But they assured me i was so beautiful. Who knows, maybe the joke's on me. Maybe someone dared her to see if I would let her do it. Maybe everyone is laughing at how silly the tall american lady is. but she seemed convincing enough that this was a dream come true for her. So i was happy enough to comply!
mmm....gorgeous!
After a few pics, they rip the jili kurdi off of me and throw it on Narmeen...did I mention it smelled like B.O. yuck! it was awful!
and this is the picture that is giving Tim nightmares. Before I could say anything or stop her...she was sprawling on our bed! so...of course I thought of my blog and knew I must go with the flow and capture the moment...the bed was already desecrated...so why ruin a good blog picture by demanding she get off our bed.
some of the mayhem in my room
Thankfully for me, Holly happened to be there working with Aram, so I made her come up and help me out...she was soon roped into the whole ordeal as well. But I was glad that she was there so we could laugh together at how utterly out of this world the whole experience was.
everyone wanted a say in how to do her hair
we just couldn't stop laughing though, so Holly had a hard time really doing the Kurdish pose
stunning...the neighbors are sure she will find a husband now with this picture on the loose!
the little girls were not to be out done in dress up, so they were busy in another room making themselves beautiful as well. We ended up doing school until 5 pm that day, but it was worth it! We had a great time playing dress up and the house cleaned up rather quickly afterwards. Just another example of how I am being forced to be more spontaneous! But how can I not enjoy it?! I got a make-over in the deal!
