The past couple of weeks have brought many new pets to our housha! Some wanted and some unwanted! This scorpion is NOT wanted! Tim decided to capture him and fight him with a wasp. BOYS!
Everyone came to watch!
This is Gulliver! He is definitely wanted! He showed up on our wall on Father's Day. We thought it was a joke by one of our neighbors, because how does a turtle get on top of a wall? All the neighbors claimed innocence though and said they would never dream of touching a turtle. But we felt privileged that a turtle would choose our yard to make his home in. We let him roam free and figured he would take off after a few days. However, he has stayed. Fortunately for him, we have a drain on the side of our house that NEVER drains. Fortunately for us, Gulliver eats all the algae and bugs that grow in that water. It's a win/win situation!
We find Gulliver in the weirdest places though...in our garden, on the wall, we have seen how he gets off the walls, he just teeters on the edge and then tucks in and rolls off. THUD! He doesn't seem to mind though. We still have yet to figure out how he climbs up though. Did you know turtles could climb?
One day we found Gulliver digging a hole under our grapevine. We thought...well that's odd. Do turtles dig holes? But somewhere buried in the recesses of my mind from earth science I knew turtles dig holes to lay eggs. Gulliver's a GIRL?? Sure enough...she has laid at least 4 eggs. We are so excited. We hope to have baby turtles in 2 to 3 months. Hopefully while we are gone, Gulliver can manage on her own.
Gulliver loves to come out and take a shower while the sprinkler is on!

I hope you get to meet the babies before they move on...love surprises/blessings like this.
