Pinata!

In one of Toby's school books it suggested making a pinata. I was feeling particularly ambitious, so I thought...why not?! SO...we blew up a balloon...made some very gooey paste with flour and water.
Then the kids proceeded to plaster the balloon. Did I mention it's messy?? Also...did you know that flour and water stick to EVERYTHING really quickly! I failed to take any pictures of me chiseling the floor, chairs, and desks off! But it was fun. Then we decorated it. Then it sat and sat and sat. We meant to do it with my parents, but forgot.
So one day we were making tortillas and salsa for dinner, so we thought..perfect time to do the pinata! There must be some kind of radar in Kurdish kids. They fly into my yard as soon as the gate is open.
They are so excited and all lined up from youngest to oldest.
Zilan is too big to line up like the "children" now...but dearly wants to be involved and so appointed herself rule giver!
 Batter up!
 Aram knew what to do!
The big kids got blind folded...
It finally burst open...no one had to tell these kids what to do now! Dog pile!
Sweet Haugine wearing the pinata as a hat! These are the days that it is really fun to have everyone in our yard. Some days, I will admit, the noise, the crying, the chasing, the flower squashing, the grass flattening, the fighting drives me nuts. But in the end I wouldn't have it any other way. I love each and every one of them. I pray each child feels loved after playing in our yard...even when I yell and kick them all out for some injustice to my vegetables!
