If you have read this blog even a little, you know how much I talk about this family. Nazila and her daughters have woven their way into my heart from the first day. On Friday they asked for help painting their living room and kitchen. It was in desperate need of a coat or 3 of paint. So several of us from the 'hood lined up to serve them in this way. It ended up being a lot of fun. Leila got covered in paint, but so did their walls. They went from dingy brown with lots of finger prints, markers from budding artists to a beautiful, crisp white. I am so happy for them. Because my motto is "a clean house is a happy house." Obviously this needs to be on more levels then just the external of our houses. But we are getting there with them.
Everybody wanted to help...even these little grubbies!
This little one got so filthy, that I took her home, bathed her and put her down for a nap in Annie's bed. She wanted all the kids babies to sleep with. My heart just yearns to give this little one a permanent bed in our home. But she has a Momma and I am not it. She has a Father in Heaven that I try to tell her about whenever I get the chance. Sometimes it comes in the form of baths, clean clothes and stuffed animals. I love the shiny end of a baby's nose when they are fresh and clean.
My other baby, Zilan, after a teenager make over. She decided to cut her hair and she is starting to talk about boys. I wish I could keep her hidden in our house and safe from hurt and harm. This one is more complicated and needs me to listen to her heart and help her learn the right way without directly telling her. She loves hugs still, so I try to give her those often. 2 years ago she was in extreme grief when her dad was taken from her...I am praying for the crown of beauty instead of ashes over her life.

this is so you. miss you.
